After months of researching and checking craigslist we found a van that we thought we wanted to purchase. We went to the family owned dealership checked it out and gave her a test ride. Our brother in law came with us to help make our decision. The van needed some cosmetic help but seemed like a good find. They were asking $4900 excluding closing fees we ended up negotiating for $4900 tax title and license. She is a 2005 Freightliner Sprinter van.

Notes: Our bro in law noted that it didn’t have much “pickup” but we just figured that’s how it drove. As it turns out it was in “limp home mode” because the turbo resonator needed replaced.

We got a tremendous deal. With only 100k miles, you can’t find these vans for less than $10k in good condition.

Going All In On #Vanlife

Going All In On #Vanlife

Taking the plunge into van life was not easy. We had many obstacles like a new house, bills, jobs, and the common fear of how the heck are we going to do this?

We did what we usually do when a tough decisions lies ahead of us, we started a spreadsheet. Pros and Cons of Vanlife. We listed our individual pros and cons, compared the lists, and determined how we could overcome them or if van life was just a fantasy.

Actually during this is what sparked the idea for our name, The Vantasy Life

Finally after nights, heck weeks of thinking and weighing all the pros and cons we said “We’re going to do this and make it work!”

When we started on this van life adventure I felt like we would never get to the point we are today. We are now down to finishing touches and getting supplies ready. Soon we will be on our journey!

Now is when the real fun begins; We get to start planning out our trip and finding interesting places and things to do all over the United States and Canada.

We can not wait to see what this adventure holds and we want  to share this journey with everyone. We encourage friends, family, and followers to give us suggestions of what to do and see  from their hometown or state. Please feel free to reach out to us via the form below or social media with your recommendations.
